Wishing You another Year of Blessings

Hello, hello and Happy Thanksgiving to all my American friends! Hope you are enjoying family time with family & friends and that you've had an AWESOME Black Friday too! I have a cold so bear with me today please.

Now, onto my card, From The Heart stamps had this image called Balloon Ride for their Progressive Challenge and I played with their sketch #44. Ta-da!

The image was colored first with prismacolored pencils and then stickles of different colors were applied. I did a sky background with my Memento drop and some cloud template. You will notice that one of the mouse (on the left) has a red "feather" on his head. I made a boo boo and I couldn't remove it so had to make as if he was wearing one...

Everything was then matted on kraft cardstock and I added some border with a Fiskars punch. To finish, I added some pearls. Here is the inside.

My sketch comes from The Heart Stamps #44.

I was recently accepted into the Hobbycutz Challenges and here I am for my first challenge with them. The theme this time is "Steampunk" and we're playing with Sassy Studios.

Steampunk is way out of my comfort zone and honestly, I had to google the word to get a better understanding of it.

The gears are from Tim Holtz's Sprocket Gears and Mini Gears. The leaf accent on the left is a metal sticker form Momenta. The paper used is from Colorbok and I used a ready made scallop card from Michaels.  The black border is from my Fiskars punch.

SBC challenge #6 - Twisted Gift Card Holder

Hello everyone and Happy Sunday! Welcome to Challenge #6 from The Scrapbook Blessings Club and our challenge, this week is the Twisted Gift Card Holder. This challenge runs from now until Nov 29th at midnight. This has been by far, one of the easiest techniques I have come across :-)

Challenge #6 is sponsored by 7 Kids College Fund

They are giving away a $20.00 Gift Certificate to their store!

From Dawn's tutorial, she shows you different ways on how she did it in less than 10 minutes per gift card holder. With teens and tweens, it has become so difficult to find a great gift that most of us just give them gift cards. This is a special way to make the gift cards way COOLER!

Here's the inspirational video:

and my take from it:

Tip: Do not hesitate to add a sentiment!

Recipe:

  • Cut paper at 4.25 x 11 inches and score from top right to bottom left
  • Flip designer paper, fold in half and crease - best bet to use a creasing tool to form a sharp crease
  • Add your image and sentiment like I did above
  • DONE!!!
If you need more inspiraton, please come check us out at The Scrapbook Blessings Club and do leave my fellow teamies some love. Thank you for your visit!

Selective wet Embossing

Happy Friday! Today, I wanted to try something new and it's called Selective Wet Embossing. I am not sure if there was ever a tutorial from someone for this but I really wanted to go for that technique. It took a bit of time and stamping but I think it turned great! This card is for my hubby to let him know how much he is important in my life!

This stamp is from the Kelly Purkey Dude stamp set. I embossed the "Amazing", "Would I be" and the "Thank You" with the respective embossing powders. I have cut the "You" and the mustache and popped them with a dimensional. The rest of the sentiments, I inked them with Memento Black. To finish my card, I doodled the borders, added some star embellishment and baker's twine.

What do you think? Is it missing something?

Building a Scene card - No colored pencils, Just stamps and paper piecing!

Happy Saturday everyone! Today, I tried a new technique for myself. As some of you know, I LOVE to color with my prismacolored pencils but for this card, I decided not to use any. It was VERY difficult for me but I had to try. I built a scene card...Yes, no colored pencils, just stamps and paper piecing!

I used the Alley Way stamps Christmas Express, a set that I won from one of their FB contest. I absolutely adore this set! I chose to play with the colors from the picture below (red, blue, orange and beige).

Here's a tutorial on how I did this:
  1. Cut your base at 4 1/4" x 11" and score at 5 1/2".
  2. Cut some hills from your dp.
  3. Fussy cut the train, trees, candy canes and window.
  4. Adhere hills and train using adhesives and dimensionals.
  5. Stamp the dotted lines 3x.
  6. Cut banner, stamp "Merry Christmas" and adhere.
  7. Add stickles on hills and pearls on wheels.
  8. Doodle around banner and star on train.

Here's another peek from the side showing you the dimensions. What do you think?
